Each work starts from a photograph taken in flight, looking straight down from my gyroplane. I print it, layer several prints and work on them by hand, tearing, opening, shifting, sometimes burning or adding colour. I only partly reassemble what I have separated. The result is a physical object, with surfaces, depth and discontinuities.

Franco Bianchi’s work centres on vision and fracture, understood not as sudden events but as the outcome of a long time. A time made of passages, attempts, detours and pauses that, in an artist’s life, often remain suspended, with no immediate result. Not every phase produces a finished work. Some periods pile up gestures that lead nowhere, lines of research that never take shape, images that cannot yet express themselves.
